Illustration 4 da kids

I have always quite fancied getting into doing some sort of childrens illustration and nowI have decided to give it a go, if I can, in my spare time, which normally adds up to about 10 minutes per week. Here's a first go of sorts, I will post up more as I do 'em.

Beijing demo storyboard

video

Here's a storyboard I did for the below...

Beijing Demo

This is a demo piece we created just to show our capabilities here at The Element. I built, textured, lit and animated most of the 3d elements of the piece in Maya, except the stadium at the end and the particles, which were created using Light wave and Xsi. We shot the runner at the track in Greystones then rotoed him out in order to separate him from the original background. All of the bg's are 3d, including the opening scene. The comp was done in Flame; what a great bit of kit

Just click on the pic or here to see the movie

some more recent work

The problem with my work I think, apart from the obvious, is that each piece seems to have been created by a different person(ality). I can't work out if that is just a symptom of a low boredom threshold or a deeper malaise. I know what people want is the same furrow intimately examined but I seem to be incapable of that, unfortunatly...

Premiership Managers

I did these a while ago, as you can see, Jose is still there. I was never the best caricaturist in the world but I quite like these as it goes.

Amalgamation

I don't know why I have two blogs out side of my own overweening sense of self importance but I am going to amalgamate the two together and see how it looks. I work in motion graphics nowadays and I will hopefully start putting some relate work up soon enough, though I have to check copywrite issues etc. I am more into the motion graphics side (Maya/After Effects mainly) of things than anything, it is probably what I should have been doing my current work for the last twenty years, though the deadlines are a killer at times.

Of course, on the other hand, I have just bought a load of of paint, canvas etc so I still haven't given it up even thought I probably should do... and I have been boarding a small film thing that I would like to do...if I get the time....and pay the gas bill...

Here's some of the work from my other site:

Japanese Tomb Raider Book

...and here's some of the book, the Shaman model was created by super talented Mark Donald, now at Dreamworks...

New Old Angel of Darkness

I have recently noticed that there have been posted on Planetlara and on some of the forums some old concept art I did for Angel of Darkness that I thought had been lost forever. As it turns out they were published in a limited edition book that was only published in Japan. I had thought a lot of this work was gone forever as I had lost my own copies of them and I had though they had been lost by Eidos too, obviously not. It is surprising the amount of interest there still is in the game, which I guess comes from a sense of " what might have been" as much as anything.

You can see tombraiderforum thread here http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=112473
and the Planet Lara stuff here

Most, though not all the work there, is mine-

Below are some of the pics....
